BAK Revolver X4TS Roll-Up Hard Tonneau Cover

★★★★★4.8· thousands of reviews

The Revolver X4TS is our aluminum-slat roll-up cover engineered with integrated TRAXPORT track compatibility for truck bed cargo systems. Matte black powder-coat panels lock in any position from the cab to the tailgate, so you control access and bed length without removing the cover.

We built this tonneau for owners who run crossbars, bike racks, or kayak mounts — the T-slot rail channels run the full length of both sides, turning your covered bed into a modular platform. The cover still rolls fully open and stores behind the cab in under 30 seconds, giving you a flat open bed when you need it.

Every X4TS ships with BAK's aluminum frame, stainless steel hinge clamps, and a tailgate seal kit. The cover sits flush inside the bed rails for a factory-finish look and latches automatically at the tailgate with our rotary slam-latch system.

Aluminum Panel Construction & Finish

Each slat on the bak revolver x4ts is stamped from 6061 aluminum and treated with a matte black powder coat that bonds to the metal surface at 400°F. This finish resists scratches from cargo straps and tie-downs better than vinyl or painted aluminum — we’ve run salt-spray tests simulating five winters of road exposure with no corrosion on the panels or hinge pins.

The slats overlap when closed, shedding water toward the drain channels along the bed rails. A rubber tailgate seal compresses against the tailgate lip to block dust and light rain. Heavy downpours or automatic car washes may let a few drops through the hinge gaps — this is normal for any roll-up tonneau. If you haul electronics or tools that can’t handle moisture, we recommend dry bags or a sealed toolbox as a second layer.

TRAXPORT Track System Compatibility
Sizing & fit

TRAXPORT Track System Compatibility

The X4TS frame integrates a T-slot rail channel down each side of the cover — these channels accept TRAXPORT crossbars, bike racks, kayak saddles, and ladder racks without drilling new holes or removing the tonneau. The rails run from the bulkhead to the tailgate, giving you 5 to 8 feet of mounting length depending on your bed size.

Crossbars slide into the T-slots and lock with thumbscrews, sitting 2 inches above the closed cover. You can load bikes, skis, or a rooftop cargo box on top of the closed tonneau, then remove the bars in under a minute when you need bed access. The same mounting principle found in our other roll-up models makes the X4TS compatible with most aftermarket tie-down anchors and D-ring kits sold for T-slot rails.

Installation & Bed Rail Fit

No-Drill Clamp Installation

The X4TS uses 12 to 16 stainless steel clamps (count varies by bed length) that hook over the inside edge of your bed rail and tighten with a 10mm socket. You set the frame in place, hand-tighten each clamp, then torque them evenly to 8 foot-pounds — no cutting, no drilling, no permanent changes to the truck.

The cover sits inside the bed rail stakes, flush with the top edge of the rail. On trucks with plastic bed rail caps or spray-in liners that wrap over the rail, you may need to trim the liner edge for a flush fit — BAK includes a cutting template and instructions in every box.

Perfect for my rooftop tent setup
I bought the X4TS specifically for the TRAXPORT rails. I run a low-profile rooftop tent on crossbars mounted to the cover, and the setup holds 400 pounds without flexing the slats. Installation took me about 45 minutes with basic hand tools.

Better seal than my old soft roll-up
Upgraded from a vinyl roll-up that leaked every time it rained. The X4TS keeps 95% of water out even in heavy downpours on the highway. The aluminum panels feel way more solid than fabric, and the matte finish looks sharp.

Great cover, had to trim my bed liner
The cover itself is excellent — locks tight, rolls smooth, looks factory. I had to trim about a quarter inch off my spray-in liner where it wrapped over the bed rail, but BAK included a template and it took maybe 20 minutes with a utility knife.

Holds my bike rack without any sag
I haul two mountain bikes on TRAXPORT crossbars every weekend. The cover stays flat even with 80 pounds of bikes and rack on top. The T-slot system makes it easy to reposition the bars when I need different spacing.

No more fumbling with twist latches
The rotary slam latch is a game changer. I can close the tailgate one-handed and the latch locks automatically. Opening it is just as easy — rotate and lift. Way faster than the old knob-style latches I had on my previous truck.

Installs clean, fits my 2023 F-250 perfect
Clamps lined up exactly with the bed rail stakes on my F-250 crew cab. The cover sits flush and doesn't rattle even on rough roads. I've had it for six months through snow and rain and haven't seen any rust or fading on the black finish.

Common Questions About the Revolver X4TS

Yes, the X4TS installs over drop-in bed liners and most spray-in liners. If your liner wraps over the top edge of the bed rail, you may need to trim it back slightly so the tonneau frame sits flush. BAK includes a cutting template and trimming instructions in the installation manual.

The clamps hook over the inside edge of the bed rail, so as long as the liner doesn't block that edge, installation is straightforward. We've tested fit with Line-X, Rhino Linings, and Pendaliner coatings without issues.

Yes, the X4TS is compatible with under-bed fifth-wheel and gooseneck hitches. The cover rolls fully open and stores behind the cab bulkhead, leaving the hitch area completely clear for hookup. When the cover is closed, you'll need to roll it partially or fully open to access the hitch.

If you have a flip-over gooseneck ball that stores flush when not in use, the cover will close flat over it. Fixed gooseneck balls that sit above the bed floor will prevent the cover from closing unless you cut a relief panel — we don't recommend cutting the slats, so plan to roll the cover open when the ball is installed.

The X4TS adds integrated TRAXPORT T-slot rails along both sides of the cover frame. These rails let you mount crossbars, bike racks, kayak carriers, or ladder racks without drilling into the bed or removing the tonneau. The standard Revolver X4 does not have the T-slot channels.

Both models use the same aluminum slat construction, rotary latches, and no-drill clamp installation. If you don't plan to mount roof-rack accessories on top of the cover, the X4 is a lower-cost option with identical weather sealing and operation.

BAK rates the X4TS frame for up to 500 pounds of evenly distributed cargo when used with TRAXPORT crossbars. That load rating applies to roof-rack accessories like bike carriers, cargo boxes, or kayak saddles — not loose cargo stacked directly on the slats.

The slats themselves are not designed to support standing weight or concentrated loads. Do not walk or kneel on the closed cover. If you're loading a rooftop tent or heavy gear, use crossbars to spread the weight across the frame rails.

Yes, the X4TS locks at the tailgate using the rotary slam latch. When the cover is closed and the tailgate is shut, the latch engages automatically. To open it, rotate the latch housing 90 degrees — this requires a key if your truck has a locking tailgate handle.

The cover also locks in intermediate positions using spring-loaded pins that drop into stake pocket holes along the frame. These pins prevent the cover from rolling open while you're driving, but they're not keyed locks — someone could release them by lifting the cover edge.

No, the Revolver X4TS opens only from the tailgate end. You release the rotary latches at the tailgate, lift the rear slat, and push the bundled cover forward toward the cab. The cover does not have side-release latches.

If you need access from the side of the bed without lowering the tailgate, consider our BAKFlip folding covers or Vortrak retractable cover — both allow side access when panels are folded or retracted.

It depends on the rack design. The X4TS frame sits inside the bed rails and the cover rolls toward the cab, so any rack or crossbar that mounts to the bed rail stakes or sits on top of the rails will likely interfere with the tonneau frame.

If you're using TRAXPORT-compatible crossbars that mount into the X4TS T-slot rails, those integrate directly with the cover and won't interfere. Fixed bed racks that bolt to the bed floor may work if they sit far enough forward or rearward that the cover can roll past them — measure carefully before ordering.
