We manufacture the BAKFlip MX4 with aircraft-grade aluminum panels, each powder-coated to resist corrosion, scratches, and UV fade. The matte black finish stays sharp through years of sun and road spray.
The dual-action tailgate seal runs the full width of the cover, creating a weather-tight barrier even in driving rain. Integrated drain tubes channel any water that reaches the rails away from the bed, so your cargo stays dry. Every hinge and latch is designed to handle freeze-thaw cycles without binding or cracking.
Folding Design & Bed Access
The four-panel design folds flat against the cab in seconds, giving you complete bed access when you need to haul taller loads. Each panel locks in position as you fold, so the cover stays secure against the cab without additional straps.
When closed, the MX4 sits flush with the bed rails — less than three inches of profile above the rails — which improves aerodynamics and fuel efficiency compared to traditional snap covers. You can still access the bed from the sides or tailgate without fully opening the cover, thanks to the individual panel locks.
Installation & Truck Compatibility
No-Drill Clamp System
Our clamp-on rail system mounts to factory bed rails in 30 to 45 minutes with basic hand tools. The rails attach with adjustable clamps that grip the bed rail securely without drilling holes or using adhesive.
The MX4 fits most full-size truck models from Ford, Chevy, GMC, Ram, Toyota, and Nissan with 5.5-foot, 6.5-foot, or 8-foot beds. If you run bed rail accessories like tie-downs or bike racks, the cover leaves stake pocket holes accessible and doesn’t interfere with most aftermarket bed liners.

Common Questions About the BAKFlip MX4
Yes. The MX4 folds completely flat against the cab without opening the tailgate. Each panel locks in the folded position, so the cover stays secure while you access the bed from the sides or rear.
The MX4 works with most spray-in and drop-in bed liners. The clamp system adjusts to accommodate the extra thickness of a liner. If you have a rail-cap-style liner, you may need to trim the caps slightly for the clamps to grip the factory rail.
Measure your truck bed from the inside of the bulkhead to the inside of the tailgate. Match that measurement to the cover size: 5.5-foot, 6.5-foot, or 8-foot. Our fit guide lists specific year, make, and model compatibility for each size to ensure proper rail alignment.
The MX4 is compatible with most fifth-wheel and gooseneck hitch systems. When you fold the cover completely open against the cab, it clears the bed area where the hitch mounts. Some hitch models may require removing one or two panels for full clearance during towing.
We do not recommend driving with the cover partially folded. While the panel locks hold the cover against the cab when fully folded, intermediate positions are not designed for highway wind loads. Always fold the cover completely flat or close it fully before driving.
The MX4 uses aluminum panels with a matte powder-coat finish and supports up to 400 pounds. All three share the same folding mechanism and clamp installation.
Our warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship for three years from the date of purchase. This includes panel cracks, hinge failures, latch malfunctions, and powder-coat peeling under normal use. Damage from accidents, misuse, or improper installation is not covered.
