BAKFlip Sliding Tie Downs – Secure Cargo Anywhere on Your Bed Rail
Our sliding tie downs give you infinite anchor points along your BAKFlip bed rail system. Each cleat slides to exactly where you need it, locks into place, and holds cargo securely without drilling extra holes or compromising your bed liner. Built from the same heavy-duty steel as our tonneau cover rails, these tie downs handle ratchet straps, bungees, and rope with zero flex.
Whether you're hauling plywood, kayaks, or toolboxes, position the cleats for maximum control. Once locked, they stay put under tension. When you're done, slide them out of the way or remove them entirely—no rail damage, no residue.
Built for real-world hauling

How BAKFlip Sliding Tie Downs Work
Each tie down cleat integrates with the aluminum bed rail already installed with your BAKFlip tonneau cover. Slide the cleat along the rail to your desired position, rotate the cam lock to engage, and you’ve got a bombproof anchor point. The steel body resists bending even when you crank down a ratchet strap.
Unlike fixed cleats or aftermarket stake-pocket ties, sliding tie downs let you adapt to odd-shaped loads on the fly. Narrow the spacing for a cooler, widen it for lumber, or move one to the tailgate end for a canoe. The rail’s T-slot channel keeps the cleat aligned—no wiggle, no tilt.

Material & Construction Details
We machine each cleat from powder-coated steel to match the durability standard of our bed rail system. The cam-lock mechanism is spring-loaded stainless steel—turn it 90 degrees and the cleat grips the rail channel with enough force to handle dynamic loads during highway driving.
The powder coat is UV-stable and chemical-resistant, so bed liner spray, mud, and road salt won’t cause corrosion. Every edge is deburred to prevent strap abrasion. At just under 4 ounces per cleat, they add negligible weight but provide full-size tie-down strength.
Installation & Compatibility
Zero-drill installation
If you already have a BAKFlip cover, the rails are already in place. Drop the cleat into the rail channel at any point, slide it where you need it, and lock. Total install time is under ten seconds per cleat.
Works across all BAKFlip models
BAKFlip G2, MX4, F1, Revolver X4s—any model with our aluminum bed rail accepts these sliding tie downs. The universal T-slot design means one SKU fits every truck in our lineup. You can even share cleats between work trucks if they both run BAKFlip systems.

Common Questions About BAKFlip Sliding Tie Downs
No, these tie downs require the BAKFlip aluminum bed rail system to function. The cleats slide and lock into the T-slot channel built into our rails. If you're running a different cover brand or no cover at all, you won't have the compatible rail.
If you want the functionality, you can purchase a BAKFlip cover to get the rail system, or consider our bed rail caps sold separately for trucks without covers.
Each cleat is rated for up to 500 pounds of working load when properly locked into the rail and used with appropriate straps. We've tested them with ratchet straps under dynamic highway conditions—no flex, no slippage.
Always distribute weight across multiple tie points for large loads. Use at least two cleats (one pair) for balanced anchoring.
You can leave them locked in the rail as long as you want—the powder coat and stainless cam lock are built for permanent outdoor exposure. Many customers keep a pair installed at fixed positions for routine hauling.
That said, removing them when not in use prevents bed clutter and keeps the rail channel cleaner. The included storage bag makes it easy to toss them in your cab or toolbox.
No, as long as you position the cleats away from the hinge points. The cover panels fold independently of the bed rail, so a cleat locked near the cab or tailgate won't block operation. If you place one directly under a hinge, you may need to slide it forward or back an inch.
Most users keep the cleats toward the bed's outer thirds for hauling, which clears the cover's fold zones entirely.
Sold as a pair—two cleats, two cam locks, one storage bag. This gives you symmetrical tie-down points on both sides of the bed or front-and-rear coverage, depending on your load.
If you need more than two anchor points for complex cargo, order multiple pairs. We've had landscapers run three pairs on a long bed for maximum flexibility.
No tools required. Drop each cleat into the bed rail channel, slide it to position, and rotate the cam-lock handle 90 degrees by hand. To remove or reposition, rotate the handle back and pull the cleat out.
The cam mechanism is spring-loaded, so you'll feel a positive click when it locks. Total setup is under ten seconds per cleat.
You can use any tie-down method—ratchet straps, cam buckle straps, bungee cords, rope, or cargo nets. The cleat's loop opening accommodates hooks up to half an inch thick and rope up to three-eighths inch diameter.
Ratchet straps provide the most secure hold for highway hauling, but bungees work fine for lighter loads like coolers or tarps.
