BAKFlip Revolver X4 Hard Rolling Tonneau Cover

★★★★★4.8· thousands of reviews

The BAK Revolver X4 combines the strength of hard aluminum slats with the fast, toolless operation of a roll-up cover. When you need full bed access, the entire assembly retracts forward and secures behind the cab—no removal required. When locked, the matte-finish slats sit flush against the bed rail, creating a low-profile barrier that resists prying and weather intrusion.

We designed the X4 for owners who move between job sites, campsites, and everyday driving. The canister installs directly to the bed rail with clamps you can tighten by hand, and the cover rides on a reinforced rail system that won't bow under snow or highway wind. Whether you're securing tools, camping gear, or a week's worth of groceries, the Revolver X4 keeps contents out of sight and protected from the elements.

Aluminum Slat Construction & Finish

Each slat is stamped from aluminum sheet and powder-coated to resist chipping, fading, and rust. The matte finish reduces glare and matches most factory bed liner textures. Unlike vinyl roll-ups, these rigid panels won’t sag between the rails or trap water in fabric folds.

The slats interlock with a tongue-and-groove edge, so when the cover is closed, you get a continuous surface with minimal gaps. EPDM weatherstripping runs along the perimeter of the canister and the side rails, creating a compression seal when the rotary latches are engaged. We source the same grade of aluminum used in our folding covers, which means the X4 handles hail, branch strikes, and years of sun exposure without deforming.

Roll-Up Operation & Canister Design

The canister houses a spring-loaded tensioning system that keeps the slats taut as you roll them forward. To open the cover, release both rotary latches, lift the tailgate edge, and push toward the cab—the assembly coils into the canister and locks in place with a single strap.

Full retraction leaves about 12 inches of bed space behind the cab occupied by the canister. If you need to haul tall cargo, you can remove the entire assembly in under five minutes by loosening the rail clamps. The canister sits low enough that most fifth-wheel and gooseneck hitches clear it when the cover is open, though we recommend measuring your specific hitch plate before ordering.

Clamp-On Rail System

The X4 uses a two-piece rail that clamps directly to the top of your bed rail. No drilling, no adhesive, no permanent modification. Each clamp has a rubber pad on the underside to protect factory paint, and you tighten them with a standard socket wrench.

Fitment Notes

The cover is manufactured to fit specific truck makes, models, and bed lengths. Measure your bed from the inside of the bulkhead to the inside of the tailgate—short beds typically run 5.5 to 6.5 feet, standard beds 6.5 to 7 feet, and long beds 8 feet. If your truck has a spray-in liner with a raised bed rail cap, the clamps will still seat, but you may need to adjust tension to account for the extra thickness. Factory stake pockets and most bed-mounted tie-downs remain accessible when the cover is closed.

Holds up to Chicago winters
I've had the Revolver X4 on my F-150 for two full winters now. It's seen snow, salt, and sub-zero nights, and the seals still keep the bed dry. I like that I can roll it open with one hand when I need to load plywood.

No-drill install was a relief
I was dreading the idea of drilling into my truck bed. The clamp system went on in about thirty minutes, and it's rock-solid. The matte finish matches my spray-in liner perfectly.

Great for everyday hauling
I use this cover daily for work tools and personal gear. The only minor issue is the canister takes up a bit of space when fully retracted, but it's a small trade-off for the convenience.

Survived a hailstorm with no damage
We got caught in a hailstorm on the highway last summer. The cover took some serious hits, but there's not a single dent. My tools stayed bone-dry, and the cover still rolls smoothly.

Perfect for camping trips
I needed something I could lock when we're hiking and open quickly when we're packing up camp. The BAK Revolver X4 does both. It's been on four cross-country trips and hasn't given me any trouble.

Fits my Silverado like a glove
The fit on my short-bed Silverado is exact. The rails sit flush, the latches engage smoothly, and the whole thing looks factory. Installation took me less than an hour working alone.

Good to know

Common Questions About the Revolver X4

No. The X4 uses a clamp-on rail system that secures to the top of your bed rail with rubber-padded clamps and standard hardware. You can install or remove the cover without making any permanent modifications to the truck.

Yes. The EPDM seals are designed to handle touchless and brush-style car washes. Make sure all three rotary latches are engaged before entering the wash bay. The cover is water-resistant but not submersion-rated, so avoid driving through deep standing water.

Most spray-in liners are compatible. If your liner has a raised bed rail cap, the clamps will still seat, but you may need to adjust the tension settings during installation. The rails are designed to accommodate up to a quarter-inch of liner buildup on the rail surface.

When fully retracted, the canister occupies approximately 12 inches of bed length behind the cab. The remaining bed space is completely clear. If you need the full bed length, you can remove the entire assembly in under five minutes by loosening the rail clamps.

Yes, as long as the total load does not exceed 300 pounds and weight is distributed evenly across multiple slats. You can use crossbars designed for tonneau covers or universal roof racks. Avoid concentrating weight on a single slat.

In most cases, yes. The canister sits low enough that many fifth-wheel and gooseneck hitch plates clear it when the cover is fully retracted. Measure the height of your hitch plate and compare it to the canister's 12-inch forward profile to confirm clearance before ordering.

The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship for as long as you own the truck. It does not cover damage from accidents, improper installation, or modifications made to the cover. Normal wear on seals and moving parts is expected over time and may not be covered after the first year.
